John D. "J.P." Peters, 81, of Penn Township, passed away suddenly Friday, April 7, 2017. Born Jan. 18, 1936, in Penn Township, he was a son of the late Robert Merle and Jane Elizabeth (Davis) Peters. He was also preceded in death by a brother, R. Glenn Peters; granddaughter, Sarah K. Peters; and great-grandson, Bryce Bigler. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rebecca Ann (Cox) Peters; daughters, Mary L. and Larry Smith, Janet L. Peters and Shannon L. and Eric Owens; sons, Robert F. "Stretch" and LuAnn Peters and John D. and Robin Peters; and numerous brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Bell Telephone. He was a lifelong member of Denmark Manor United Church of Christ, where he was a keeper of the sign and was also a lifetime member of Harrison City VFD and Claridge VFD. There will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Woodlawn Cemetery - Denmark Manor, 2003 Denmark Manor Road, Export, PA 15632, with the Rev. Meredith Hutchison officiating. Arrangements entrusted to LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721.
