REV. RICHARD EMERSON WIBORG
WIBORG, Rev. Richard Emerson Of Newton, passed away at home February 20th. Born in New Haven, CT, he graduated from Jamaica Queens High School, Ohio Wesleyan University and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He began his ordained ministry as youth minister at Five Points Mission, Church of the People on the Lower East Side. He then served fourteen years at Summerfield-Hope United Methodist Church in New Haven, CT. Dick served as Council Director of the former Southern New England Conference of the UMC for sixteen years, and at St. John's United Methodist Church in Watertown for six years. He is survived by his wife and partner in ministry for fifty three years, Margaret, son Christopher and his wife Jill Kopeikin of Mountain View, CA and his son David and wife Amy of Newton and grandchildren Lukas, Ella, Jasper and Greta. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 24 at 11:00a.m. at St John's United Methodist Church, 80 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Massachusetts Chapter or the Preachers' Aid Society of New England.
