Walter L. "Skip" SCHAFER Jr.
SCHAFER, Walter L. Jr. "Skip" 69, of Clearwater, passed away on Jan. 27, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. Son of Dr. Walter L. Schafer, Sr. and Vivian B. Schafer. Moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1955, he graduated from Florida State University in 1969, earned his J.D. from Capital University School of Law in 1977, and his L.L.M. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1978. He was appointed to the 6th Judicial Circuit Court in 2005 by Gov. Bush. Skip, a devoted father and a friend to all, is survived by sons, Walter, Kurt, and Kyle; sisters, Barbara and Janet; and brother, Lee. A memorial will be held at the Sylvan Abbey Mausoleum at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, or the St. Petersburg College of Nursing.
