Jacob W. Wineman Jr.
Jacob W. Wineman Jr. Clarington Jacob W. Wineman Jr., 82, of Clarington, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Brookville Hospital. Born April 28, 1930, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Jacob W. Wineman Sr. and Grace (Holtzer) Wineman. Jake was married to Sallie A. Frye who preceded him in death Nov. 19, 2004. In addition to his loving wife and parents, Jake was also preceded in death by two infant daughters. Jake is survived by his two sons, Mark and his wife, Rebecca, of Lucinda, and Kurt and his wife, Linda, and four granddaughters, Amber, Alanna, Gracie and Alyssa, of Mebane, N.C. He is also survived by his sister, June Cooper, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jake resided in Greensburg until 1967 when he and his family moved to Penn Hills. In 1995, Jake and Sallie pursued their love of the outdoors and moved to the Cook Forest area. Prior to his retirement, Jake was employed by PIBH where he spent many years establishing and managing Drivers License Centers located throughout Western Pennsylvania. Everyone who met Jake could tell he was a true people person. He loved talking to people and enjoyed learning about them. Whether it was making and delivering Easter baskets for friends and neighbors or just bringing a favorite treat along on a doctor's visit, Jake was always thinking of others. As a young man, Jake was a member of Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Truck Company No. 2. This organization remained an important part of his life as he continued his involvement as a social member up until his passing. He was also very active with the Marienville Free Library where he served on the Friends of the Library Committee. He was an active participant in the many fund raising events held at the library. As an avid Steelers football fan, Jake enjoyed watching the games, working on the draft and was a walking encyclopedia of sports related statistics. He also loved to read, spend time with his pets, Muffin and Maggie, and to go to NCAA Basketball games with his sons. At Jake's request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Truck Company No. 2 at 137 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601.
