In memory of
Karla (K.C.) Bechaver
Karla (K.C.) Bechaver passed away May 17, 2009 at her home in Walden of natural causes. K.C was born in San Jacinto, CA to Carl Iler Harris and Dorris Inez Brands Harris on October 4, 1951. Her early childhood was spent growing up in and around Hemet, CA. As her father was a career navy man, K.C. was a self described Navy Brat who spent much of her childhood in Italy and Connecticut before returning to Southern California. In 1968, K.C. was blessed with her daughter Patricia Kimberly. She finished school in 1969 and received a certificate in interior design. In 1972, she moved to Colorado to be closer to her parents in the North Park area where she had spent many a summer on the Brands family ranch working with her parents at the restaurant near Lake John. In 1973 she met and married Harold Geer. Harold, K.C. and Kim were joined in 1974 by a son, Steven. Harold and K.C. chose to divorce in 1982 but remained close friends until her passing. K.C. met Stephen Bechaver, and they were married in 1986. Lindsey and Crystal, Steve's daughters, also joined the family at that time. In 1997, she graduated with her Cosmetology and Esthetician degree and opened Celestial Mountain Spa in Walden. K.C. was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. auxiliary and a past Noble Grand in the Rebecas. She was an EMT with the North Park Ambulance Service, and also worked as an in-home caregiver. She was also an artist. She enjoyed oil painting, sketching, and writing. She loved to strum the guitar, and was a mean player of the spoons! She was active in her church, where she was president of Total Women Ministry. Many nights you would find her preparing for bible study, either as a leader or a student. She was active in the music of her church, and would whole heartedly contribute whenever needed. K.C. loved to help all those in need, and no matter how she felt or who they were, if they were in need she was there to lend a hand. Steve and K.C. enjoyed their trips together. On any given adventure you might have found them in the Bahamas, California, Utah, The Black Hills, or Mesquite, NV. They enjoyed family, and were proud parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. K.C. was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Dorris Harris of Walden, CO; brother Robert (Skip) Brewster of Broken Arrow, OK; and sisters Elsie Jean and Mary Inez Brewster. She is survived by her beloved husband Stephen A. Bechaver of Walden, CO; sister, Sally Harris Hall of Apple Valley, CA; daughter, Kimberly Geer-Coe of Paonia, CO; son, Steven Geer of Walden and Steamboat Springs, CO; daughter, Lindsey Bechaver Reigel and husband Ron of PA; daughter, Crystal Bechaver; granddaughter Audralea Coe and grandsons, Ethan, Lane and Keaton Coe of Paonia, CO; great grandsons, Jaedon and Kollyn; and many friends and relatives too numerous to count.
