June 25, 1920 - January 28, 2016 Evelyn Murgatroyd Giese, 95, passed away January 28, 2016, in Longmont, Colorado. Evelyn was born June 25, 1920 in Vesper Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Wisconsin. Evelyn married John A. Giese in 1942. She taught and volunteered wherever John's Air Force duty took them in the U.S., Germany, and Japan. They settled in San Antonio in the 1950's, and raised two children. Evelyn belonged to Christ Lutheran Church, and was active in Altar Guild, as well as Meals-On-Wheels, Texas State Teachers' Association, and Kappa Kappa Iota. Evelyn moved to Longmont, Colorado in 2003. "Grandma Evelyn" mentored at Columbine Elementary School and was named 2006 Saint Vrain Valley School District "Outstanding Senior Volunteer of the Year". She was an avid reader, seamstress, and dog lover. Evelyn loved sharing laughter with friends and encouraging children. Surviving are her daughter, Jolyn Rossing, her husband, Thomas; son, Edward Giese, his wife, Ursula; grand daughter, Gwyndalyn Giese; brother, Donald Murgatroyd, his wife, June; nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. Viewing and Memorial Service will be at 8:30 am, February 8, 2016, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
