Sister Carmen Torres
Sister Carmen Torres CDP, 70, of Lorain, Ohio, died Thursday May 16, 2013, from complications after surgery. She was of Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence. Sister Carmen was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Lares, Puerto Rico. Sister Carmen entered religious life Aug. 1, 1978. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico and a master of social work from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked in the cities of Cleveland and Lorain, Ohio, as a counselor, therapist and case worker for the past 17 years. Sister Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Ruperta Arroyo and Rogue Torres, and three siblings. She is survived by five sisters and four brothers. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Providence Heights. Wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel. Arrangements have been made by ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME INC.
