Michael A. Stoddard
MICHAEL A. STODDARD July 15, 1939 ~ August 17, 2015 Mike, 76, of Vancouver, WA, was born in Bellingham, WA to Katherine and Kingsley Stoddard. He moved to Portland, OR, went to Central Catholic High School and then did his senior year of high school in Washougal, WA. He joined the Army, went to Germany, and there he met his wife of 55 years, Janet "Jan". Together they had three children, Gerald of Vancouver, Dean (Karen) of Battle Ground, WA, and daughter Michelle, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by granddaughters, Kristen, Kaitlyn, Jessica; and grandson, Michael. If you ask him what he did, he'd say he was in sales. He owned and operated a Radio cab for over ten years, managed a restaurant, worked for two oil companies in Portland, and sold used cars - he was J&M Auto. Mike loved traveling and his resemblance to actor Carroll O'Connor brought strangers for a photo with him, or just to ask if he was or not! When his boys were in Columbia Little League, he was their Chief Umpire and Safety Chairman. Family and friends were his entertainment. Service will be Tuesday, September 1, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 S. Andresen Rd. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Vincent DePaul. Please sign his guestbook at www.columbian.com/obits .
