EUGENE R. SWANSON August 22, 1930 ~ July 18, 2015 Eugene R. Swanson, 84, passed away July 18, 2015 at PeaceHealth SW Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. He was born Aug. 22, 1930 to Albert and Clara Swanson in Bertha, MN. Eugene attended Battle Ground High School (1948) and Clark College (1953-1954). He was drafted Feb. 21, 1951 into the U.S. Army and proudly served as an 11th Engineer BN APO 301. Eugene worked for Boise Cascade Paper Mill, (1954-1992) as lead Compositor/Printer and Plate Maker. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, American Legion, VFW, Veteran of Korean War, and St. Johns Lutheran Church. Eugene enjoyed hobbies such as: genealogy, photography, wood working, and gardening. ~ He cherished family time and valued his friendships. ~ Eugene is survived by two daughters, Regina George and Deborah Wilson (Tom); one son, Brian Swanson (Nikki); a sister, Arleen Klug (Arnie); two brothers, Jerry Swanson (Joanne) and Jim Swanson (Nancy); four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and several wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Swanson (2001); his brother, Steve Swanson (2003); and both parents, Albert and Clara Swanson. A memorial service will be held Sat., Aug. 15, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 11005 NE Hwy 99, Vancouver, WA 98686. Special thanks to the Hematology/Oncology Dept. Portland VA.
