HERBERT BUCKLEY
Herbert W. Buckley, Jr., formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on December 28, 2014, from complications of polycystic kidney disease. His remains were cremated in El Paso, Texas, following his death. Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, in Davenport, Iowa. Interment of cremains will take place at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery immediately following funeral services. The Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting his family with local arrangements. Herb was born on August 16, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Carolyn (Bosley) Buckley and Herbert W. Buckley, Sr. He graduated from Assumption High School in Davenport, Iowa, in 1967. Herb served in the United States Air Force from 1968-72. He was employed by the Department of Defense Police from 1974-88. From 1988 until his retirement in 2004 he was employed by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Herb enjoyed his ham radio hobby and had many friends in the ham radio community. He also had a love for the many dogs that were his companions in the years preceding his death. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his cousins: Barbara (Buckley) Kemner; Terri Kemner; Steven Kemner; Daniel Kemner; and Caren Kemner, all of Quincy, Illinois; Kenneth Kemner of St. Charles, Missouri; and James Buckley of Alton, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol or the Humane Society (No Kill) Shelter in El Paso, Texas.
