Ronald "Ronnie" Brooks
Brooks, Ronald "Ronnie" Ronald "Ronnie" Brooks passed away Sunday morning, May 31, 2015 at his home with his family at his side, and his loving pets Coco and Tiggy. He was born: May 26, 1931 in Cavour, Wisconsin, son of Arthur and Irene (Benzinger) Brooks He resided in Forest County, Wisconsin all of his life, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a short time. Ronald graduated from Laona High School in 1950. Ron married Alda June King on May 21, 1951 in Crandon, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2009. He owned and operated Ron Brooks Logging and Trucking, 48 years of dedicated service as Town Board Supervisor and Chairman for the town of Caswell, he also was the Town Road Maintenance Supervisor, the Cavour cemetery sexton and the Forest County Highway Commissioner. Joined the Laona Lions Club on February 1, 1961 to current, former Laona School Board Member, 100 Mile Snow Safari, and a proud owner of Green Bay Packers season tickets. Dad always had a smile on his face while giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren KitKats, working in the woods, hauling sand and gravel, being on the bulldozer, plowing snow for the town of Caswell, spending time at his lake property on Lake LaFave, Goodman WI, hunting (shot his biggest buck this past season, with bullets from his late wife Alda's gun), following the Laona High School football and basketball teams, and visiting his friends from all over. He is survived by loving daughters: Debra Brooks of Oconomowoc, Beth Aschenbrenner of Cavour, Patty (Warren) Egan of Cavour, Shelly (Jeff) Stauber of Green Bay, Lori Albrecht of Crandon; sisters, Susan (Dave) Pratt of Goodman, Carol DuValle of Crandon; grandchildren, Rachel (Travis Wood), Michael Zaborowski, James, Jake, John Aschenbrenner, Kelly (Dan) Adams, Kayla (Dustin) Smith, Cody (Megan) Egan, Shan Egan, Brett (Kimberly) Stauber, Brian (Jen Lotze) Stauber, Kyle (Morgan) Albrecht, Abbey (Josh Kerekes) Albrecht; great grandchildren: Maverick Wood, Wyatt and Sawyer Adams, Kylee and Rylan Smith, Noah Egan, Brogan, Vienna and baby Albrecht due in December; sisters-in-law, Tess King, Rhinelander, Grace King, Crandon. Further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Alda; parents, Art and Irene; sisters, Ann and Dorothy; son-in-law, Paul Aschenbrenner; nephew, Dan Smith; many brothers and sisters- in- laws especially Clifford and Audrey Bonack, and aunts and uncles. The next time you pass through Cavour and drive over the Peshtigo River or the Soo Line Railroad tracks tip your hat, Ronnie was always watching. You will be missed "Grandpa KitKat" Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon, with prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be on Friday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Laona. Funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Paul Koszarek officiating. Interment will be at the Cavour Cemetery.
