Linda Decker Barnes Linda Decker Barnes passed away at her Bothell home on Wednesday, July 16th at 57 years old after fighting cancer for nearly a year. Born Linda Ruth Decker in Royal Oak, Minnesota on March 26th, 1957, she moved to Allison Park, Pennsylvania at a young age. Linda attended school in Allison Park before receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1979 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from their Francis Payne Bolton School in 1980. Linda moved to Seattle in 1982 to begin her life's work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Virginia Mason Medical Center. On August 30th, 1986, she married Larry Barnes and began a family that expanded with the birth of their daughter in 1993. In 1990, she received her Masters in Nursing from the University of Washington. She began teaching at Shoreline Community College in 1990 and was awarded tenure in 2001. She is preceded in death by her brother Richard, mother Sally, and father Richard Decker, and is survived by her husband Larry and daughter Shannon Barnes.
