Carmon Curtis Woodard
Jarreau, LA- Carmon Curtis Woodard, 75, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, in a Baton Rouge hospital surrounded by his family. Carmon was born on Dec. 3, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA to Curtis S. Woodard and Julia Downs Woodard Bourque. He loved to operate his bulldozers, hunting, fishing, and playing the slots. He was a bulldozer operator most of his life, retiring from Daigle Brothers Construction in Sulphur, LA and was currently employed by R.S.G. Construction of Prairieville, LA. He was a member of Operating Engineers 406. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have been a source of great pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Nellie Jarreau Woodard of Jarreau, LA; his nine children, Sheila Woodard (Tim) Porch of St. Francisville, Sharon Woodard (Sampson) Guillory of Lake Charles, Pamela Woodard Menard of Lake Charles, Billy Joe (Pat) Woodard of Vinton, Dennis Woodard of Vinton, Paula Woodard (Edward) Reed of Moss Bluff, Christine K. Shreve (companion, Jesse) of Houston, TX, Noelie K. (Alvin) Moreau of Moss Bluff, and Monica K. (David) Olivier of Westlake; two sisters, Shirley (Addley) LeBleu of Westlake and Violet Lee of Houston, TX; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Donald Woodard; five sisters, Emma Boudoin, Lois Reynolds, Betty Woodard, Faye Trahan, and Kaye Foyil. His funeral will be 11:00am Monday, April 7, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Bro. Rod Buller will officiate. Visitation is from 2:00-9:00pm Sunday and will resume Monday 8:00am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery, Moss Bluff.
