DOLLINGER--Gisela (Kohn) Born August 30, 1902 in Baden-bei-Wien, Austria, Her family business was destroyed on Kristallnacht and her beloved husband, Bernard, was arrested. Able to free him from prison, they emigrated to China, living in Shanghai's Jewish Ghetto, where she worked with the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), assisting many refugees from Europe in finding housing, food and clothing. Since 1950, they lived in the E. Village. The matriarch to scores of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was also a trusted friend to so many people. She lived her life with dignity and with honor. She died peacefully, at 111 years of age, on March 10, after telling family that she had "lived a long, happy life". Her life is an example to all of us.
