December 2, 1927 - January 22, 2014 KENNEL'S BEACH - Mary Ann Moore Sugg, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this life on January 22, 2014. She was born in Kinston, N.C. to Herman Cary Moore Sr. and Ada Basden Moore. She graduated from Grainger High School and attended Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, E. Walker Sugg, and her brother, Herman Cary Moore Jr. Mary Ann was a strong Christian woman who enjoyed her involvement for many years with Northwest Christian Church in Kinston and later with Bethany Christian Church in Arapahoe. Throughout her life, Mary Ann loved cooking, making homemade peach ice cream, sewing, spending time at her and Walker's river house at Kennel's Beach, and taking care of her beloved family. Those who knew and loved her will miss her cheerful personality, positive attitude, warm friendly smile, and eyes that sparkled. She made friends with everyone she met. Mary Ann's greatest joy in life was her family. Surviving her are son, Emmett W. Sugg and wife Dena, of Wilmington; daughter Ann S. Leary and husband Bob, of Cary; granddaughters Lindsay Allen and husband Zach, of Raleigh and Kimberly Leary of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; grandson Eric Sugg and wife Kelly, of Rougemont; and great-grandson, Walker Allen. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Robertson of Greensboro and many beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mary Ann's family extend heartfelt thanks to her dear friends, Kent and Betty Lee, and to her loving caregivers, Linda Lupton and Maddie Nelson, all who provided much help, comfort, and love to her in her later years. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at Westview Cemetery on Hillcrest Road in Kinston, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bethany Christian Church, 8126 NC 306 Hwy., Arapahoe, NC 28510 or Northwest Christian Church, 2009 Carey Road, Kinston, NC 28501.
