Lura Edith Lewis Brown, 85, of Graefenburg, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Alexander and Rachel Scott Brawner Lewis, and the widow of Garnet O. Brown. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry V. Lewis, Robert A. "Bob" Lewis Jr., and Harry Scott Lewis; and sisters, Tommie Hockensmith and Dorothy Ann Henry. Survivors include her daughters, Garnetta Faye Barnette of Lawrenceburg, Linda Antoinette Sanford of Shelbyville, and Debra Kaye Jennings of Graefenburg; son, Leonard Carrell Brown of Lexington; brothers, William E. "Bill" Lewis Sr. of Frankfort, Charles R. Lewis of Switzer, Elbert Earl Lewis of Frankfort, and Jimmy Carroll Lewis of London; sisters, Frances Catherine Moore of Frankfort and Virginia Lee Sharp of Bokelia, Fla. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Life Baptist Church of Waddy. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church, and expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Gideons International.
