Willie Roberts Sr.
Willie Roberts Sr. of Ricbeoro was born on June 20, 1941, to the late Will and Louise Roberts in Riceboro. He died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was educated in the public schools of Liberty County. At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined First African Baptist Church under leadership of the Rev. Garfield Jackson. Several years later, he moved his membership and joined First Anderson Grove Baptist Church. In 1967, he joined in holy matrimony to Sadie Mae Fields. To their union four children were born. He was a loving husband and great father to his children. "Bill" was loved by his family, peers, and community. He was employed briefly at Sea Pak on St. Simon Island and for many years at Lambert Pulpwood Company and Merritt Pulpwood Company. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at First Anderson Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in First Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories, his dedicated wife of 46 years, Sadie Mae Roberts; one daughter, Betty Diane (James) Roberts Wright of Augusta; three sons, Willie Darryl Roberts of Riceboro, Dale Anthony (Latricia) Roberts of Augusta and Jeffery Lamont Roberts of Beckley, W.V.; seven grandchildren, Dwight Kewan Roberts, Tiffany Latrice Gowins, Charmaine Victoria Wright, Jamie Laquita Wright, Dale Anthony Jr., Kayla Nicole Roberts and Brandon Chase Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Camron Jacquez Stewart, Kewan Calvin Roberts and Neyziah Maria Anderson; three sisters, Irie Lee Lambert of Riceboro, Ellen (Jack) Paul of Miami, Fla., and Annie Ash of Riceboro; one brother, Albert Roberts of Miami; two aunts, Marie Anderson and Katie Lee Hudson, both of Riceboro; two uncles, Columbus Hudson of Riceboro and Eddie Lee Hudson of Miami; two special nieces, Tangela Williams and Yolanda Patterson; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Hall, Jones and Brown Funeral Home in Brunswick is in charge of arrangements.
