Helen Chokov (nee Aurini), 89, of Scotch Plains, N.J., passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in Westfield Genesis Center. A Memorial Mass will be offered in St. Theresa R.C. Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, N.J., on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. Mastapeter Funeral Home in Roselle Park, N.J., is handling the arrangements ( www.mastapeterfuneralhome.com ). Born in Mahoney City, Pa., Helen lived in Elizabeth, N.J., before moving to Scotch Plains 34 years ago. She was a keypunch operator for the Union County Board of Taxation in Elizabeth, for 15 years, retiring in 1997. Prior to that, Helen worked for Singer Manufacturing Co. in Elizabeth for 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Milan Chokov. Surviving are a daughter, Karen DeMaio, and her husband, Russell; two grandchildren, Allison and John, and a sister, Mary Shubeck.
