In memory of
GROESBECK William Thomas, Jr., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 15, 2013. He was 86 years old. Born in Dumont, NJ, son of William and Marie (nee Daley) Groesbeck, Sr, he was a resident of Sarasota, FL and prior to that Dumont, NJ for over 65 years. William Groesbeck was a graduate of Dumont High School class of 1944 where he excelled in three sports. While still in high school, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific theater during WWII. Upon his return, he was employed by the town of Dumont, NJ for over 40 years where he received many commendations for acts of bravery as a Police Officer and ultimately achieved the rank of Chief of Police before retiring in 1991. During that time, he also developed real estate in the Bergen County area through his company, Arylene Homes. Preceded in death just eight months ago by his wife of 68 years, Arylene Gallow, he is survived by his three sons, William Groesbeck III and his wife Patricia of Sloatsburg, NY, Gary Groesbeck and his wife Karen of Newtown, PA and Keith Groesbeck and his wife Karen of Sarasota, Fl. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome August 19th from 2-4 at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 6903 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:30am Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Incarnation Church, Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota.
