Mrs. Susie Ellen (Culler) Loun
Mrs. Susie Ellen Culler Loun, 95, of Kemptown, passed away April 5, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born January 25, 1918, in Feagaville, MD, she was a daughter of the late Kurtz E. and Mary E. Houck Culler. She was the wife of the late Raymond R. Loun, who died September 22, 1983. She was a well known business woman in Kemptown as owner and operator of Raymond R. Loun, Inc. scrap metal yard with her husband until his death and then with two of her sons. She was also a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Mrs. Loun was a long- time member of Providence United Methodist Church in Kemptown where over the years she taught Sunday school, was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, and participated in the many church activities. She also held the esteemed position of helping out with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren during their formidable years for which her children are extremely thankful and grateful. She had a loving heart and giving spirit to all of them that cannot be measured where her family was concerned. Surviving are three children, Harold K. (Tookey) Loun and wife Myrtle of Mt. Airy; Allen S. Loun and wife Betty Lou of Waynesville, NC; Patricia E. Schemm of Frederick; and a daughter- in-law, Barbara Kay Loun. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Raymond R. Loun, II and wife Laura; Roland (Trapper) L. Loun and wife, Tina; Susan I. Loun-Cafardi; Kurtz H. Loun; Ruth J. Loun; Glen H. Loun; Victor A. Loun and wife Patti; Wendy M. Chalmers and husband Ronnie; Roby (Chip) L. Shipley, Jr.; and Roxanne R. Neumann and husband Matthew; and twelve great- grandchildren, Culler, Chayan, Jesse, Justin, Jade and Dakota Loun; Luke Cafardi and wife Jessica; Marcus Holder, Dustin Huppman, Garrett Shipley, and Amanda and Emily Neumann, a great great grandchild, Bryan S. Cafardi, and several step grandchildren, step great- grandchildren and step great- great grandchildren . She is also survived by a brother, Bernard H. Culler; a sister, Belva K. Fry, sister-in-law, Julie (Babe) Culler and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Susie was preceded in death by a son, Roland R. Loun; a son-in-law, Charles W. Schemm, Sr.; brothers, Clyde, Roland and Paul Culler; three sisters, Betty Roche, Eva Wahl, and infant, L. Regina Culler; sisters-in- law, Lena, Charlotte, and Mary Culler, and brothers- in-law, Kenneth Fry and Samuel Wahl. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, P.A., 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Donna Renn will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Cemetery beside the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Cemetery Company, 3716 Kemptown Church Road, Attn: June Pearce, Monrovia, MD, or Hospice of Frederick County, P.
