KINGS MOUNTAIN - Harlan C. Markwalder Sr., 64, lifelong resident of Gaston County, passed away Jan. 3, 2013, at Gaston Me-morial Hospital, Gastonia. He was born Oct. 31, 1948, son of the late Donald L. and Ruth Hammack Markwalder. Harlan loved his family, reading and writing. All services are private. He is survived by sons, Harlan C. Markwalder Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Claremont, Matthew Markwalder of Kings Mountain, Na-than Markwalder of Vale; daughter, Miriam Markwalder of Lincolnton; sister, Janice G. Fowler of Gastonia; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Nelson and Carrie Hammack, William and Betty Markwalder. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia. A guest registry is available at greenefuneral.com.
