Joe E. Valdez, 82, of Wagon Mound passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. He was born on Oct. 13, 1929 to the late Melaquias Valdez and Adelina Gonzales Valdez of Wagon Mound. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adeline Valdez; sister, Emma Valdez and niece (adopted sister), Annabelle Martinez. He is survived by his step-son, Alan Castanuela of the family home in Wagon Mound; step-daughter, Elizabeth Lewis (Eddie) and her family, Chandra, Eddie Lewis Jr., Annastasia, Marcella and Isaiah of Indiana; sisters, Josie Griffin (Frank) of Longmont, Colo., Pauline Trujillo (Adam) of Albuquerque, and Alice Sanford (John) of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Rudy Valdez of Hereford, Texas and George Valdez of Wagon Mound; cousin and caretaker, Lydia Palomino of Las Vegas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Santa Clara Cemetery in Wagon Mound by Pastor Robert Clevenger.
