Miller resident, 90 KEARNEY - Leslie Eugene "Les" Bentley, 90, of Miller died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miller Christian Church with the Rev. David Harder officiating. Burial will be at Riverdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and before services Thursday at the church. He was born Dec. 28, 1921, on the family farm on the South Loup River near Miller to Hadsel and Inez (Day) Bentley. On Oct. 23, 1948, he married Ruby Roberts in Amherst. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Deanne Alton and her husband, Miles, of Lake Mary, Fla., Donna Harrop and her husband, Ron, of Longwood, Fla., Marilee Mack and her husband, Ron, of Llano, Texas, sons, Jerry Bentley and his wife, Kelly, and Randy Bentley and his wife, Sandi, all of Miller; 13 grandchildren; sister, Arlys Kleckner of Miller; and brother, Keith Bentley of Miller. He grew up in the area and graduated from Miller High School in 1939. He and Ruby were married at the United Brethren Church in Amherst. He was baptized in 1949 and was a member of Miller Christian Church and Kearney Gideons. He had served on the church board, Redwing School Board and Harrison Township Board. He had farmed and ranched all his life, raising cattle, hogs and sheep, and his favorite job on the farm was building fence. He also loved attending his children's and grandchildren's school and other events. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie; brother, Clarence; and sister-in-law, Velma.
