WILLIAMSBURG - W. Stephen 'Steve' Pullen, 65, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his home, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his wife, family and beloved dog, Garth. He was born in Newport News, where he had spent most of his life, before moving to Williamsburg in 1996. Steve retired as a Deputy Director from the Department of Juvenile Justice. He was a member of the Williamsburg Golf Club, formerly the Williamsburg Country Club, and he was a rabid Washington Redskins fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Tincie Pullen. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Gina Pullen; his brother, Donald Pullen of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Terry Hall of Clifton Forge; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Valerie Hall of West Point; nephews, T.L. Hall and his partner, Randy Lewis, and Josh Hall; and niece, Anita Saunders and her husband, Jimmy and their daughter, Madison; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite A-102, Newport News, VA 23606, or Riverside Hospice, 12420 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606.
