Doris Mae McCutcheon
The hearts of Johnnie and Eva Whittaker were filled with joy at the arrival of their beautiful girl. Doris arrived on February 13, 1927. She was born in Calvert, Texas. Doris grew up in Calvert whrer she attended school as a young girl. She answered the call of salvation as a young girl and was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in calvert. At a special time in her life, Doris met Elmo McCutcheon. They were married on September 13, 1949. To this union three children were born, Brenda, Billy and Elmo, Jr. They later moved to Houston, Texas, where she joned Greater mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor J.J. Jones and later Pastor Robert Jones, where she was a faithful and hard worker until her death. Doris was a loving wife and mother. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. she was always willing to help others in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, son (Billy) and brother (Carl). On Monday,January 16, 2012, in Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, surrounded by her family, Doris was called to Glory. She left a legacy to her family and friends. She leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories with her husband, Elmo, Sr., children, Brenda and elmo, Jr., sisters, Dora Calvert, Hattie Jones, and Jessie Combre and one brother, James Whittaker. One grandchild, five great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
