Ethel M. (Risley) Hadley
CONEWANGO VALLEY - Ethel M. Hadley, 90, of Upper Elm Creek Road, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday (Oct. 20, 2011), in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center. Mrs. Hadley was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Findley, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ivan and Gail (Flick) Risley. She was Valedictorian of the last graduating class of Ellington High School in 1941 and was the bookkeeper for Hadley & Son Construction Company in Conewango Valley from 1966-2001, with her son and late husband, and was recently still active on the family farm since 1950. She was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Cherry Creek and was a farmer at heart. She loved her farm and animals and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by a son, Niles W. Hadley of Conewango Valley; a daughter, Sharon L. Mason of Frewsburg; 10 grandchildren, Dennis Hadley of Clyde, Ohio, Victoria Snyder of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Raymond Hadley of Berwick, Pa., Dawn Succi of Horton Kansas, Cory Hadley of Randolph, Raymond Mason of Ohio, Anne Larson of Ohio, Barbara Murvine of Jamestown, Kenneth Mason of Florida and Steven Mason of Frewsburg; 24 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; two bothers, Harvey Risley of Sinclairville and John Risley of Gerry; and a sister, Evelyn Farley of Jamestown. Mrs. Hadley was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, M. Raymond Hadley, whom she married Sept. 14, 1942 in Gerry, on Nov. 5, 2007; a grandson; a brother, Russell Risley; and two sisters, Emma Follett and Margaret Baker. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 21, 2011), and one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Funeral services were held Saturday (Oct. 22, 2011), in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, N.Y. The Rev. DeForest Tennies, pastor the Faith Lighthouse Chapel in East Randolph officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Ellington.
