HAMPTON - Lucile Moody Peters, 94, passed away at home on April 3, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born in Waynesville, N.C., on June 3, 1916. She was a graduate of Asheville Teachers College in North Carolina and taught first and second grades in the Hampton schools for more than 30 years, retiring in 1976. She was the widow of Luke Peters and is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Hoyle of Springfield (Henry), Karen Curling of Richmond (Montee), and Jeanne Peters of Hampton; grandchildren, Julie Myers (Mark), Philip Hoyle (Tabitha), and Steven Hoyle (Kristen); eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Charles Moody of Florida and Wayne Moody of Florida; her sister, Susie Campbell of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at Wythe Presbyterian Church, with a reception afterwards. The Rev. Arthur F. Jensen will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wythe Presbyterian Church, Attn: Myanmar Support Fund, 151 Robinson Rd., Hampton VA 23661.
