Earle A. Brooks
Earle A. Brooks, 93, died March 17, 2011, at Mountain Ridge Nursing Home in Franklin, N.H. He was born in Franconia, N.H., and lived in Vero Beach from 1978 to 2005. He also has lived in Shaftsbury, Vt., and Franklin. He worked with the Scott & Williams Co. of Laconia, and in 1971, partnered with his wife Jeanne to form Golden Rod, a custom drapery and upholstery business. In 1978, he retired to Vero Beach. While in Florida, he was a part-time employee at Dodgertown Golf Club. He served in the Navy during World War II as machinist's mate, second class, aboard the USS Patoka, a mine craft tender operating in the Pacific. He was a graduate of Laconia High School. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Franklin; daughter, Patricia Durfee of Shaftsbury; sons, Allen of Jackson, N.H., Charles of Freedom, N.H., and Steven of Henniker, N.H.; brother, Robert of Middlebury, Vt.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086-0908. Services: A memorial service is scheduled for a later date. Arrangements are by Thibault-Neun, Franklin, N.H.
