MARGARET E. PEACOCK
Margaret E. Peacock, 83, a retired English teacher, of Mashpee, MA died peacefully in her sleep on January 24th of complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Per her request, she was a member of the Tufts University Anatomical Gift Program. Meg. a longtime resident of Pelham, NY, attended Albany Academy for Girls, Barnard College, and Columbia University, where she earned her Master's Degree. She began her career as a writer for Fiction House in New York City and later taught English at Barnard School for Girls in Manhattan and Scarsdale Junior High in Westchester. Throughout her life she enjoyed writing, reading, opera, theater, and travel. As a resident of Pelham, she was an active congregant and choir member of Huguenot Memorial Church. Upon retirement, she relocated to Cape Cod, MA, where she joined St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham. She leaves behind a daughter, Sharon Langton of Mashpee, MA and a son, Winfield Peacock of Yonkers, NY. She also leaves six grandchildren, Scott, Sharalynn, Kellylynn, Michelle, Alison, and Christopher. She leaves four great grandchildren, Marion Jr., Rachael, Sal, and Kyle. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8 at Huguenot Memorial Church Chapel in Pelham, NY, at 2 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod and Islands, 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA, 02601, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Barnstable, MA, 02601.
