Atlanta resident, 80 ATLANTA - Dennison Jackson "Dennis" "Punch" Freeland, 80, of rural Atlanta died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Virginia Fleharty officiating. Burial will be at Industry Cemetery near Atlanta with military honors by Martin Horn American Legion Post 66 in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps Military Honors Team. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m. He was born July 23, 1930, on a farm northwest of Atlanta in Phelps County to Alfred and Florence (Leach) Freeland. On Aug. 10, 1954, he married Verlene Schmidt. Survivors include his wife; sons, Steve of St. Francis, Kan., Terry and Dave, both of Atlanta, and Mark of Holdrege; daughters, Tami Peltier of Concordia, Kan., and Julie Lindstrom of Bertrand; brother, Larry of Franklin; sisters, Faye Peterson of Gibbon and Beverly Braden of York; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
