WATSON, Mark Roland December 8, 1957 - November 9, 2009 Mark Watson passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2009 as a result of complications arising from Alzheimer disease. Mark is survived by his mother Betty Watson; his brothers Peter (Elaine) and Michael (Shannon); sisters Liz (Chips) Reid and Shelagh (John) Slater; and by his sisters-in-law Lisa and Sheryl. He was predeceased by his father Roy Watson, and brothers John and Paul. Mark had a much longer and fuller life than was ever expected. Mark had Down Syndrome but it didn't hold him back from contributing in many ways through his long term volunteering at the Food Bank, St. Andrew Church, and in various jobs including with his beloved Edmonton Oilers. Mark loved life; some of his favourite hobbies were skiing, golfing and bowling. But most of all, Mark loved to be with people, bringing joy and happiness to everyone with his eternal optimism. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12810 - 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Friends are invited to celebrate Mark's life at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 16 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12810 - 111 Avenue, Edmonton. With special thanks to Val Voxland and her staff at Parker Stewart House who cared for Mark through his last year.
