Edward L. Furniss
Edward L. "Hambone" Furniss, 79, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale. Mr. Furniss was born in Belen, MS and graduated from Sunflower Consolidated High School. He was a member of Niland Chapel Baptist Church and more recently attended Rena Lara Baptist Church. Mr. Furniss was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a retired motor-grader operator for Coahoma County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvy George Furniss and Girtie Ferguson Furniss; brothers, Howard and Hubert Furniss as well as two sisters, Isabel Furniss Malone Dill and Juanita Furniss Anderson. He leaves a sister, Ann Furniss Russell of Oakland, TN; four brothers, George, Herman, and Delma Furniss of Rena Lara, MS and W. G. Furniss of Greenville, MS, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be today from 5 pm to 7 pm at National Funeral Home with services Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at 1 pm at National Funeral Home with Rev. David Koons, pastor of Rena Lara Baptist Church, conducting services. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
