JOSEPH TABER
    Joseph John Taber   "Joe" (Age 96)   Passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 29, 2016, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Joe was born in Barnesville, Ohio on February 6, 1920. He was a graduate of Muskingum College, received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and served as a US Naval officer from 1943 - 1946. Joe was a Petroleum Engineer, Chemist at Gulf Oil Company and a Professor at the Univerisity of PIttsburgh, who co-authored eight patents and more than 40 professional publications relating to oil recovery. He was the first Director of the Petroleum Recovery Research Center (PRRC) at New Mexico Tech. His most recent patent was granted in 2005 at the age of 85. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Catharine in 2010, and is survived by daughter, Deborah Leap and her husband, Dennis; son, John Taber and his wife, Kathy; son, Tom Taber and his wife, Julie; daughter Cathy Browne and her husband, Richard; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Joseph will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Friends Meetinghouse, 5100 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered for the Socorro Rotary Club Foundation, P. O. Box 972, Socorro, NM 87801.
