Richard A. "Dick" BUTT
BUTT, Richard A. "Dick" (Age 93) Passed away August 29, 2014 in Spokane, WA after a five month battle with heart disease. Dick was born in Mansfield, WA, the 4th of eight children, to Will and Helen Butt. He grew up on the farm and was remembered at Mead High School for his pitching prowess. In 1945 Dick married Bessie L. Olsen. Dick was encouraged to attend Broadmoor College of Massage in Seattle by the Osteopath who treated his father's polio. In 1952 he started his massage career that lasted until 2007. He was a legend in his field. Dick is survived by his children: Susan (Mike) Sanborn, Sandy Griffin and Steve (Lori) Butt; grandchildren: Bret, Kendra, Kristen, Beau, Bart, Di-Anna and Zackery; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; brother Emerson "Bob" Butt; sister Genevieve Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Bessie; brothers, Stanley and Gene; sisters, Gertrude, Margaret and Helen. Memorial service will be held Friday, September 5 at 1:00 pm, in the Rose Chapel at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.
