Mildred B. "Millie" Stephens
STEPHENS, Mildred B. "Millie" (Age 88) Went to be with the Lord April 10, 2011. She was born December 3, 1922 in Hollister, CA and grew up in the San Luis Obispo area. She left California at age 18, moving to the Bitterroot MT area where she met Cecil Stephens. They were married in 1942. After spending several years in California and various places in Washington they settled in Spokane in 1970. She worked at the Fairchild AFB Commissary over 20 years until her fall in 2008. Millie was a great inspiration to her family. She is survived by her children, Doug Stephens and Ardith Shirkey both of Spokane; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her brother, Stanley Towle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Stephens; grandson, Michael Stephens; and daughter-in-law, Karen Stephens. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Monroe St. Funeral Services will follow at 5:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger in the Alwin Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
