GEORGE HARRISON
George J. Harrison, 84 Loving husband, father, and grandfather George J. Harrison of Westerleigh, S.I., 84, died Sept. 3, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital. Born on Aug. 26, 1934, in Staten Island to George and Agnes Harrison, he was the oldest of four children. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Frances (Yenish), and together they had one child, Joseph. George worked at U.S. Gypsum, joined the U.S. Army in 1957, served two years in the NYC Police Department, and was appointed to the NYC Fire Department in 1960, where he served for 34 years achieving the rank of lieutenant. He was an avid Yankees and Giants Fan, and enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and co-workers. George and Frances spent many summers with family and friends at their summer home, affectionately known as Los Bomberos. In retirement, George and Frances traveled the world with their many friends and loved ones. George volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and the NYC Fire Department Retiree Program. George was predeceased by his sister, Agnes, and brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Frances; son, Joseph; daughter-in-law, Noreen; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Patrick; sister, Barbara Percoco, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is remembered by his many friends who over the years have become family. Viewings will take place at Casey Funeral Home on Slosson Avenue on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Teresa's Church on Victory Blvd, S.I.
