In memory of
Larry C. Bean
Larry C. Bean, 74 CUMBERLAND FORESIDE - Larry C. Bean, 74, died due to Parkinson's Disease, on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at The Mooring in Cumberland Foreside. Larry was born in Portland on Feb. 4, 1944, the son of Charles L. Bean Amelia (Milos) Bean. He was a product of South Portland schools, attending in the era of Jackets, Shirts and Ties. Four of his classmates remain his friends to this day. Larry represented his country in the service of the U.S. Army and was a member of the famed "Screaming Eagles" of the 101st Airborne Division, receiving a Certificate of Achievement with Citation from the Commanding Major General. Through his tours and assignments, he found time to travel extensively to Europe and elsewhere. It can be safely said that Larry took advantage of his opportunities while in foreign lands to roam and visit far-off sites and vistas. This is often reflected in his games of trivial pursuit, crossword puzzles and other informative "games". Upon leaving the military, Larry served as a merchant seaman and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Predeceased by his brother, John R. Bean, and a grand-nephew, Timothy "T.J." Carter, Larry is survived by his sister, Dorothy S. Arsenault; nieces, Debbie Lee Carter, Louann E. Callahan; nephew, Bruce C. Carter; grand-niece, Lisa Marie Barrett; grand-nephews, Bruce G. Carter, Paul Callahan Jr., and Ryan Callahan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the guidance of Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com .
