Frances Marie Munson
FRANCES MARIE (FISCHER) MUNSON June 24, 1927 ˜ March 4, 2019 Frances Marie (Fischer) Munson was a lifelong resident of Vancouver, WA, who came into this world on June 24, 1927. She left us to be with God on March 4, 2019. Her loving husband of 66 years, Gene (Morris) Munson, misses her dearly and looks forward to seeing her again. Fran was a devout Catholic and her faith never wavered throughout her 91 years. She was a long-time and very active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Vancouver. Fran received her education in Portland and Vancouver, attending Providence Academy, Clark Community College, Marylhurst University, where she received her Bachelor’s in Education. While she was raising her children, she attended University of Portland and received her Master’s in Education. Most of her 30+ teaching years were at St. Joseph’s. Prior to St. Joe’s, she subbed in the Portland Public Schools and Vancouver School District. Throughout her career in teaching, she enriched the lives of countless students. To say Fran will be missed is an understatement as she touched so many lives in her various activities, committees, volunteer duties, church commitments, and more. She was proud of her 25+ years volunteering as Chairman of the volunteer staff at SW Washington Medical Center’s ICU/CCU department. Other involvements include Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, CCD teacher at the Deaf School, and Sisters of Providence Associate. Fran had a loving, rich life with Gene and their five daughters, ‘the girls’. First and foremost, she loved her family, traveling, pulls on the one-armed bandit, beach trips, laughing, and card/board games. After retirement and between volunteer duties, she and Gene were fortunate enough to travel the world many times over. Surviving immediate family includes her outstanding husband, Gene; daughters, Molly Zinda (Danny), Jan Bennett (Roger), Lori Melnick (Rich) and MaryKay Munson-Syverson (Brett); grandchildren, Tamara (aka TJ), BriAnne, Tyler, Travis (Desi), Dusty (Ashlee), Alex (Lindsey), Joe, Shasta, Jesse (Ryan), Zack (Amanda), Ben (Kelly), Reid (Nora) and Adam; great-grandchildren, Mia, Kaiya, Rosalee, Paisley, Austin, Maddy, Michael, Westley, Tristan, Brooklyn, Baby Boy coming soon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Molly Fischer of Vancouver, WA; siblings, Bea, Oliver, Bernard, Kay, Donald and Maureen; and Fran’s eldest daughter, Paula. Please join us in celebrating her long and busy life. Family Viewing: Sunday, March 10, 2019, 2p.m.-8p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Rosary: Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 10a.m., St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 6600 Highland Dr., Vancouver, WA 98661. Funeral: Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 11a.m., St. Joe’s.
