ROY D. HURFORD August 9, 1939 ˜ August 19, 2018 Roy D. Hurford of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Aug. 19, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family and close friends. He was 79 years old. Roy was born in Maywood, CA on Aug. 9, 1939 to Ruth and Isaac Hurford. He spent his childhood in many places including Ketchikan, AK, learning the value of hard work and developing a sense of adventure that would keep him busy for a lifetime. Roy eventually settled in Clark County, WA and graduated from Battle Ground High School. He would go on to find a lifelong love of aviation and founded Sky Kraft Flight School at Pearson Air Park.He spent many hours giving scenic flights and charter flights and taught many Clark County residents how to fly. Roy met his wife and the love of his life, Lois LeBeck, while working as an elevator operator at the old St. Joseph’s Hospital while attending college. They were married in 1960 and celebrated 58 years of marriage in 2018. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and discovering new places. Roy was a very gifted entrepreneur and started Pacific NW Medical Supply which he sold in 2009. Though he claimed to have retired at the time, he had his hand in business until the day he died, with many friends sharing how he blessed their lives and impacted their life's paths. He left a lifetime legacy to his family. Roy is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Mike; daughter, Karen Kilburn; granddaughter, Mindra Kilburn; brother, Bob; and sister, Winona Budrick. He will be fondly and dearly missed by many. The family would like to express gratitude to Community Home Health and Hospice for making his final days comfortable and dignified. It was Roy’s request that no services be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community Home Health and Hospice as it was always Roy’s way to pay it forward.
