JENKINSON, JR., W. KINGSTREE - Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Gordon Brockington Jenkinson died peacefully July 26, 2006. She was married to the late William E. Jenkinson Jr., who passed away in 1991 after forty five years of marriage. Mrs. Jenkinson was born in Kingstree on November 4 th , 1922. She was one of eight children of Esther Jane Harper Gordon Brockington and Samuel Keels Brockington and an eighth generation South Carolinian. Her forefathers rode with Francis Marion in 1781 and rode with Wade Hampton in 1864. Mrs. Jenkinson was a faithful servant of God and of her church. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her husband and her four children. She enjoyed her home life and cooking for her family and others. In her youth, she lived in Charleston, Florence, and Kingstree. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1944 and later taught school for a few years. She was a dedicated member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club for many years. Her surviving family includes: a son, W.E. Billy Jenkinson and Salley Jenkinson of Kingstree, their children, Will and Meredith Jenkinson, Anne G. Jenkinson and Louisa K. Jenkinson of Mount Pleasant; another son, Gordon B. Bubber and Peggy Jenkinson of Kingstree, their children, Martha Kent Jenkinson of Charleston and Mary J. and Barry Bubba High, Beau High and Banks High of Walterboro; another son, H.M. Mac and Caroline Jenkinson, their children, George M. Jenkinson, D.Gordon Jenkinson and Carrie R. Jenkinson of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Margaret ( Moo ) and Billy Kirk, their children, Lee G. Kirk and Molly H. Kirk of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lee B. Stewart of Wilmington, NC and one brother, S. Keels (Freddie) Brockington of Lake City, SC. Funeral services for Mrs. Jenkinson will be held at the Kingstree United Methodist Church, 510 North Longstreet Street, Kingstree, South Carolina on Friday, July 28 th , 2006 at 3 o'clock p.m. Burial will follow in the Williamsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Billy Jenkinson at 115 E. Brooks Street, Kingstree, SC 29556 immediately after the funeral.
