Robert Mooney
Robert Mooney "Brian" MT. PLEASANT - Robert "Brian" Mooney passed away June 15, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma. Brian was born on August 17, 1938, in Queens, N.Y. Upon graduating from Bayside H.S. Brian joined the U.S. Marine Corp. While serving as a Marine he married his high school sweetheart and the true love of his life, Mary Jane McManus. They shared a wonderful life while being married for more than 50 years. Together they had 6 children. Brian continued to serve others as a N.Y.C. firefighter for 20 years, where he rose to the rank of Lt. Upon retirement from FDNY he worked as the Vice President of sales for Longmont Foods, a Conagra Company. While these professions were his true calling, his family and friends were his true love. He was an excellent husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed by his wife, 5 surviving children and his 13 grandchildren. We know he will join his daughter Kathleen in heaven and be waiting for all of us with an ice cold Guiness. God speed "Da". A mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 19th. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Scleroderma Foundation, South Carolina Chapter, 1027 S. Pendelton St. B244, Easley, SC 29642. Arrangements are being made through PALMETTO CREMATION SOCIETY, Charleston, SC. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths
