RAVENA Thomas E. McElroy, 77, entered eternal life Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Thomas was born and lived in Albany until 1989 when he moved to Selkirk. He had also lived in Ravena for two years. He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. In 1980, he retired after 35 years with General Electric in Schenectady. He had belonged to the Albany Moose Lodge and the Rotterdam Rod & Gun Club. Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Mary Friebel McElroy. Survivors include his children, Thomas (Deborah) McElroy Jr. of Fla. and Linda (Gary Deyss) Kenney of Ravena; daughter-in-law, Dale McElroy of Albany; sister, Marion Grant of Colonie; grandchildren, Melissa Kenney, Michelle (Jeffrey) Maddage, Lori (Jim) Carpenter and Erin (Joe) LoPardi; and six great-grandchildren. Thomas was also predeceased by his son, Robert McElroy and brother, Joseph McElroy. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Friday, May 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Thomas may be made to the American Cancer Society.
