Mari Joy Miller, age 75, of Liverpool, PA passed away on April 12, 2019. Mari Joy was born in Harrisburg, the daughter of R. Glen and Helen (Lawrence) Hale. Mari Joy is survived by her son, Michael Smith and wife Lisa Smith, three grandchildren, Paul Smith and wife Joanna Smith, Ben Smith and wife Sarah Smith, Larisa Smith-Carlos and husband Felipe Carlos and six great grandchildren, Eden Smith, Benjamin Smith, Vincent Smith, Windsor Smith, Elena Smith and Silas Smith, brothers, Jake Hale, Thomas Hale and William Hale. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Glen Hale, and a sister, Cynthia Houser. A graduate of Penn State University, she was employed at Bell Telephone Company, United Telephone Company, Parent's Institute, Fulton Bank and Capital Blue Cross. Mari Joy was an entrepreneur and the owner of three local Perry County businesses: Mountain Springs Hotel, Sears Catalog Store and First Class Fundraising Company. Mari Joy was well known for her animal assisted therapy program with her llama, Keeper. They were familiar faces in nursing homes, schools, day care centers and they also made in-home visits. She enjoyed adventure travel especially hiking and completed many famous trails worldwide. A challenging accomplishment was hiking the 2,168 mile Appalachian Trail. A visitation will be held on Saturday April 20, 2019 at Central Baptist Church, Millerstown, PA at 10 AM until the service at 11 AM. Mari Joy will be interred at Wright's Cemetery, Millerstown, PA. This is a celebration of Mari Joy's life so please wear bright colors to the service. Memorial gifts in Mary Joy Miller's memory can be made to Bethesda Mission Woman's Shelter, P.O.
