Fern Bowman, age 91, of Oklahoma City, passed away September 12, 2007. She was born September 18, 1915 in Jones, OK to Ira and Hazel (Woodworth) Deal. Fern graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women and taught in Chattanooga, OK. She married Kermit Bowman in 1937 and was a homemaker for many years. In 1955, she earned a Master's degree and returned to teaching until she retired at the age of 65 from the OKC Public Schools. She touched thousands of children's lives during her career. She is survived by her son, Phillip Bowman; son, Deal Bowman; daughter, Delaine Evans; eight grandchildren, Paula Cantrell, Randel Bowman, Clay Bowman, Scott Bowman, Colin Bowman, Meredith Evans, Kathryn Ryan and Sarah Duncan; numerous great and great-great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Duane Deal. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Kermit; one sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Jones IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
