OAKLEY Judge Thomas D. Oakley, age 84, died on June 24, 2004. A Native of Jacksonville, he graduated from Lakeland High School in 1937. He attended the University of Florida and graduated from its law school in 1949. He practiced law with the late J. Henry Blount. He was assistant County Attorney from 1953 to the time of consolidation, at which time he became assistant General Counsel for the consolidated city of Jacksonville. He was appointed Circuit Judge in February 1974, from which he retired in December of 1988. Judge Oakley served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II in the South Pacific theatre of operations. He was a communicant of St. Marks Episcopal Church, and honorary life member of the Florida Yacht Club and the River Club of Jacksonville. He was married to the former Leewood Shaw of Quincy, Florida. He was predeceased by his wife and their son Richard Shaw. He is survived by one son, Thomas D. Oakley Jr., wife Nancy, and two grandchildren, Leewood Lindse y and Victoria Shaw. Memorial services will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church on July 6th at 10 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church located at 4129 Oxford Avenue Jacksonville, Florida 32210.
