FERRERI, Evelyn Capitano "Sugie" passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 surrounded by family at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace. She was born on July 12, 1930, in Ybor City and lived most of her life in Temple Terrace and South Tampa. Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank Sergio Ferreri Sr.; as well as her parents, Theresa (Tessie) and James Capitano; and her brother, James (Sonny) Capitano. Evelyn was a beloved mother to her sons, Samuel (Sam) James Ferreri (Donna) and Frank Sergio Ferreri Jr. (Susan) and a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Jennifer Ferreri (Greg Bates), Christina Ferreri (James Ling), Rachel Ferreri, Francesca Ferreri and Jack Ferreri. Evelyn attended Hillsborough High School and graduated from Florida State University. She met and married her husband, Frank, in June 1954. Shortly after they married, they spent several years at Eglin Airforce Base in Ft. Walton Beach before they moved back to Tampa permanently. Evelyn was an iconic school teacher in the Temple Terrace community for over 30 years. She was also dedicated to numerous civic and religious organizations throughout her lifetime, including Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Christ the King Church, Jesuit Mothers' Club, Friendship Club of Temple Terrace, Ladies Auxiliary of Krewe of Sant' Yago, and many more. She was known for her love of travel and adventure, her excellent cooking skills, and her extraordinary ability to love and be loved by so many that crossed her path over the last 90 years. Visitation and Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 25 at 11 am in the Holy Cross Chapel at Jesuit High School, 4701 North Himes Avenue. Immediately following the mass there will be a reception at Higgins Hall at St. Lawrence Church, 5225 North Himes Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jesuit High School www.jesuittampa.org/onlinegiving or Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa 2021 Impact Fund - Metropolitan Ministries ( metromin.org )
