Jocelyn (Moore) King
Jocelyn Moore King, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, in Richmond, Kentucky at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center at the age of 78. She was born in El Paso, Texas. After living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for most of her life, she was a resident of Richmond, Kentucky for the past 9 years. She is survived by her husband, Gary King: daughters Alice Mecom (Mark Peterson) and Dorothy (Mike) Bisciglia; son John Mecom; grandson Michael Jarvis; sisters Sonie (Kent) Milton, Bess (Fred) Matthews and Margaret (Frank) Foote; brother Andy (Ivy) Moore; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John Augustus Moore and Alice Lorraine (Sonie) Sonafelt; her first husband Sidney Mecom; and grandson Luke Jarvis. Prior to retirement, she spent 30 years teaching third grade at St. Thomas More in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After retirement, she volunteered at the LSU Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge where she met her second husband Gary. Private burial of her ashes will take place at a later date at St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
