Julia, Mary Jo and Joe Casey, Sr. Julia Christine Casey 1967-2020 Julia was born in Abilene and attended Clyde schools through her senior year. Then briefly attended UT, Arlington and later graduated Arizona State. She received an advanced degree in Environmental management from Hardin Simmons. She worked for the environmental lab of Abilene Texas until our parents required more care in home; she ended her life as the primary care giver for our parents. She passed June 9th, 2020. She was an avid reader and animal right proponent. Mary Jo Casey (Hess) 1940-2020 Mary Jo (mom) was born in El Dorado, Kansas she attended Amijo High School in Fairfield California. She then attended Hardin Simmons and Hendrick Medical Nursing School. She received her degree and RN certification in 1966. 1966 is also the year she met and married Joe Casey. Later mom went on to get her BSN form UT Arlington. She passed June 30th, 2020. Mom loved the ocean and visited California every chance she got. She was an avid reader and huge San Francisco 49ers fan, which lead to many spirited times in our home during football season. Joe N. Casey, Sr 1931-2020 Joe (dad) was born in Bell County and attended Killeen High where he was active in all sports. He attended Community College in Harlingen before a stint in the Navy and was discharged just prior to the Korean Conflict. He married and had two daughters with his first wife. He divorced and moved to Abilene in the early sixties where he owned and operated 2 Carwashes/ service stations with his best friend Lee Welch. He met and Married Mary Jo in 1966 and they had a daughter and a son. He went to work and retired from Gerlach oil in Abilene, who had purchased his car washes. He passed November 6th, 2020. Dad was an avid gardener and steward of his land. We raised cattle, pigs, sheep and goats. His wine making hobby ensured that all visitors to the Casey's had a good time and usually left with a bottle or two. Memorial Service will be held at The Stagecoach Inn, Salado Texas, on May 15th at 1:00 pm CDT. In lieu of Flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the ASPCA.
