Ralph Masters Jan. 26, 1929 - April 25, 2021 The Rev. Ralph L. Masters was born in 1929 in St. Joseph, MO. The only child of Ralph Lynn Masters and Juanita (Leeper) Masters, he attended North Dallas High School and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He married Patricia (Kendall) Masters and was the father of three children, Ken Masters, Elizabeth Fraley and Rebecca Winston. He was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1959 and served as rector of several Episcopal churches over the next 50 years. His life and ministry had a strong influence on both his communities and his parishioners, many of whom went on to enter the ordained ministry themselves. He was active in the early civil rights movement of the 1960s and the revival movement of the 60s and 70s. He supported AA, Al-Anon, substance recovery and ran an active prison ministry. He was a faithful blood donor and loved visual arts of all kinds. He served as a priest at: Christ Church, Matagorda, TX and St. John the Divine, Palacios, TX St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, Houston, TX St. Michael and All Angels, Lake Charles, LA St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Lampasas, TX St. Martin's, Copperas Cove, TX Church of the Annunciation, Flower Mound, TX He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Kendall Masters, and is survived by his three children and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., May 15, 2021, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Waco. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Memorial Fund at St. Alban's. You are also encouraged to donate blood in his memory in your community.
