On Wednesday, April 30, 2021, Wilbur Dean Gregory, loving husband and father passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Wilbur (Greg) and his twin sister Wilma were born on January 8, 1930, in rural Morrow County, Ohio, to Elvie Clyde Gregory and Marguerite Helen Pleister. Greg served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. He studied Mechanical Engineering for two years at Idaho State University before taking a job at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). After a few years he became Manager of the Advanced Test Reactor Critical (ATRC). He retired in March 1994 after working for 36 years. When he retired, he received a letter from the Secretary of Defense thanking him for his contribution during the cold war. On November 14, 1953, he married the love of his life Pheobe Colleen Condie. They raised six children, two daughters and four sons. Their home was filled with laugher, love and chaos. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was very proud of his wife and family. Greg was very involved in the Boy Scouts Program and took vacation from work to attend Scout Camp with his sons. He coached his boys in baseball and attended many sporting events that his children participated in. He supported the American Legion for 44 years and has a great love for the flag and what it stands for. He raised his own honey bees and enjoyed working with them. His favorite hobbies were reading history books, camping, hunting and fishing. When he retired, he and his wife did extensive traveling throughout the US and some of Canada. His favorite locations were Alaska and Canada. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 86. He was sealed to his wife on September 9, 2017, in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was known for his kindness, compassion and service. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters and three brothers, and his daughter, Brenda Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, and five children, Michael (Vicki) Gregory, Jon (Karen) Gregory, David Gregory, Paul Gregory and Lisa (Robert) Brenchley, 24 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 2 pm preceded by a Family Visitation at 1 pm at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot.
